Last but can never be the least, yes i am taking about legendary Gary Halbert. King of Copywriting and popular for Boron Letters.

For copywriters Gary Halbert’s Boron Letters is a masterpiece example. In fact the website is full with examples from Gary Halberts emails to his subscribers.

You can get the Boron letters downloaded free from Internet, but i would personally recommend to get the physical book for your reference, Its a investment that you will never regret.

Here is the list of some great Books that will help you to learn about copywriting. Our list on Copywriting Resources is not complete without mentioning them.

#17 The Copywriter’s Handbook

Author : Robert W. Bly

This book succeeds on two levels. For beginners, it offers a clear, comprehensive guide to the business of and techniques used in advertising copywriting. And for the professionals behind the typewriter, this book is a valuable back-to-basics tool that should be given a prominent slot on the bookshelf.

This is a book is for everyone who writes or approves copy: copywriters, account executives, creative directors, freelance writers, advertising managers . . . even entrepreneurs and brand managers.

#18 The Ultimate Sales Letter

Author : Dan S. Kennedy

Dan S. Kennedy is the provocative, truth-telling author of seven popular No B.S. books series and six other business books.

Dan Kennedy is probably the greatest marketer period and one of the best copywriters. I’ve listened to many of his courses, but this is the first time I’ve read one of his books cover to cover and he definitely didn’t disappoint. I almost thought that because he has such high priced programs, there’s no way he would give value in a $10-$20 book, but it’s worth a 100x what i paid for it. Anyone that has a business or sells anything needs to read this book.

#19 Advertising Secrets of the Written Word

Author : Joseph Sugarman

Joseph Sugarman has been highly recognized for his effective advertising copy and the innovations he’s brought to the direct marketing field.

The book is chock full of REAL examples. I highly recommend this work to writers of all types. If you’re in advertising, or wanted to learn about copywriting even if just for your own small business, you’d be foolish to pass on this one.

I’d say my favorite thing about Joseph Sugarman’s writing is his really humble personality that comes through. He shares his experiences. He just tell you (so you can learn) where he went wrong in the past—where his ideas and campaigns made him “lose his shirt.” He confesses he lost more often than he won but when he wrote a winner he sometimes won big. Along the way he learned harsh truths about business.

#20 Ogilvy on Advertising

Author : David Ogilvy

David Ogilvy was a Advertising genius and business executive who founded the advertising, marketing, and PR agency Ogilvy & Mather. In his book he reveals how to get a job in advertising, the secrets behind advertising that works, how to write successful copy—and get people to read it and Eighteen miracles of research.

The fascinating thing for me, as I read OGILVY ON ADVERTISING, was not Ogilvy’s brilliance, but rather his common sense approach to advertising. Since people buy magazines for the articles, not for the ads, it only makes sense to make your ads LOOK like an article. And if you’re offering a savings, it only makes sense to instruct the reader on how to determine how much they will save with your product.

The book is also laden with time-tested ads that work, and some that clearly don’t. This is like a 200 page swipe file of some of the greatest ads ever. If marketing or copywriting is calling your name, read this book.

#21 A Whack on the Side of the Head

Author : Roger von Oech

Roger von Oech is the president of Creative Think, a California-based consulting firm that has conducted creativity seminars with such companies as American Express, Apple Computer, AT&T, CBS, IBM, NBC, and NASA. He earned his doctorate from Stanford University in a self-conceived program in the history of ideas.

This book is old but wow. It’s a great way to look at things differently. It will help you think outside the box for sure. Also, it’s full of good facts about how people think and how to find answers in places you never thought of before.

You have to be creative when while writing good copy and this book could be an amazing resource to learn about copywriting.

I found a lot of value at the end of the book when covering the second whack. Understanding where you are taking your ideas is key and knowing when you need to be in explorer, artist, judge, or warrior mode is a great way to think about it.

The book offers well-articulated rules for the next time I have to explain my edits to others. Some grammar rules I know by intuition rather than by rote. The author offers pithy explanations of those. She’s also gathered data on the ideal length for website text lines and paragraphs. You may find this helpful when justifying your ruthless edits.

#23 The Adweek Copywriting Handbook

Author : Joseph Sugarman

If you have noticed, it is Sugarman’s second book in my list. I cant resist mentioning this masterpiece here.

This book is written from the point of view that all ads will be full-page print ads in magazines, newspapers, and mail order catalogs. This book is brilliantly laid out in a step-by-step, easy to follow format with wide margins for lots of notes. Sugarman takes you through the process of actually writing copy from beginning to end. The emphasis here is on print advertising, but the relation and application to any other form of copywriting is easily discernible. The brief final section of the book even covers writing for other types of media.

This book pulls largely from the training seminar Sugarman taught for many years. Only you get the $2,000 seminar for the price of a book. What a deal to learn about copywriting.
